Retire or Restore · Kit Inspection · 25
Every piece, rated. Twenty-five dollars, credited back.
Bring your whole kit. Every piece is checked and rated against the manufacturer’s own criteria, and you leave with a written verdict and a quote. The 25 comes off any service you book.
Good · Monitor · Retire
Three ratings. No jargon. No pressure.
Good
The piece meets the manufacturer’s published criteria. It’s been cleaned, lubricated where appropriate, and inspected. The record notes the date, what was done, and what was checked.
Monitor
Usable today, with specific wear points named: a soft spot forming near a rope’s middle mark, lobes that are slower than they should be. You’ll know exactly what to watch and when to bring it back.
Retire
The piece no longer meets a specific criterion in the manufacturer’s own retirement guidance. We show you the criterion, explain it plainly, and note it on the record. What happens next is your call.
The written verdict
What your service record looks like.
Every item gets its own line: what it is, what was done to it, the rating, and any notes worth keeping. The standards referenced are listed right on the record: Petzl, Black Diamond, DMM, and Beal published guidelines, and UIAA 101 & 121. You can check the reasoning yourself.
If a repair or resole makes more sense than a service, the quote says so. The twenty-five you paid comes off whatever you book.

No. No one can honestly tell you that. We clean, inspect, and document condition against manufacturer and UIAA guidelines, and we flag anything worth retiring. The final call is always yours.
